Arkansas head coach Ryan Silverfield stated that his team was frustrated and angry following a 43-10 loss to No. 20 Utah in Salt Lake City on Saturday, according to a September 13 report.
Silverfield noted that the Razorbacks were not good enough in all three phases of the game and expressed a need for the team to learn quickly from the defeat.
The Arkansas offense struggled throughout the game, producing only 10 points. Starting quarterback KJ Jackson completed 14 of 34 passes for 139 yards and one interception. The team also faced difficulties on the ground, rushing 28 times for 61 yards, an average of 2.2 yards per carry.
Silverfield said the team struggled to run the football effectively and noted an inability to complete simple passes against man coverage. He also stated that the offensive line needed to improve its protection of the quarterbacks and noted that the running backs performed poorly.
The Arkansas defense allowed 442 yards to Utah's offense. Silverfield attributed the defensive struggles to too many missed tackles and a failure to properly read the triple option, which resulted in explosive plays for the opponent.
Utah quarterback Devon Dampier contributed 261 passing yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 50 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Following the loss, the Razorbacks moved to a 1-1 record. Silverfield stated that the team believes in themselves and intends to rebound in their upcoming games.
