Lehi's Planning Commission will consider overhauling how the city regulates the appearance of commercial buildings at its Thursday, Nov. 5 meeting.
According to an October 30 report, the commission's agenda includes a discussion of proposed changes to the city's Nonresidential Design Standards. The proposal would replace the current system of design districts with requirements tied to zoning categories.
The proposed changes could reshape the appearance of future businesses and developments across Lehi. Under the current system, commercial projects must meet the architectural and site-design rules of the specific design district in which they fall.
For example, during a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 24, two projects sought exceptions to a 40% glass requirement under the existing standards.
The agenda for the Nov. 5 meeting does not detail which districts would be affected or what the new zoning-based standards would require.
Other items on the Nov. 5 agenda include a review of the Lehi Water Smart Council's mission, vision and guiding values document. Additionally, commissioners will have a discussion regarding training on appeals and variances.
All three items are listed as discussions, and no formal votes or public hearings are scheduled for the meeting, which is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Lehi City Council Chambers.
The Lehi Water Use and Preservation General Plan Element, which was updated in 2025, outlines city goals to promote water-efficient development and reduce per capita water use.
