Intermountain Health has scheduled upcoming advanced life support training sessions at Logan Regional Hospital, offering specialized curriculum for healthcare professionals managing pediatric emergencies and cardiovascular crises. The training programs include both Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, requiring participants to complete online coursework prior to attending in-person skills assessments.
Pediatric Emergency Training Details
The Heartcode Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) program is designed to help healthcare providers improve outcomes for pediatric patients. According to Intermountain Health, the curriculum prepares professionals to recognize and intervene in cases involving respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest through high-quality individual skills and high-performance team dynamics.
PALS Registration and Requirements
Participation in the PALS training requires a two-part registration process. Healthcare professionals must first register for a skills class, which costs $72, and subsequently purchase the Heartcode PALS online course for $178. The total cost for the complete course is $250. Intermountain Health noted that the online course must be completed before a participant can attend the in-person skills class. Additionally, participants must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to attend the skills class.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training
The Heartcode Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course is tailored for healthcare professionals who manage or respond to cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest. This advanced course is built upon the foundation of Basic Life Support (BLS) skills and emphasizes the necessity of high-quality CPR and high-performance team dynamics.
ACLS Registration and Requirements
The ACLS training follows a similar two-part structure to the pediatric program. The total cost for the ACLS course is $250, which includes a $72 skills class and a $178 online course. Similar to the PALS program, participants must complete the American Heart Association Heartcode ACLS online course before attending the skills assessment and must possess a current BLS certification.
