The Utah County Health Department has significantly increased its public health communications recently, announcing a drive-thru MMR vaccine clinic in Spanish Fork and issuing reminders for horse owners to vaccinate against West Nile Virus by the end of April.
The health department announced a drive-up immunization clinic for the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine scheduled for April 22, 2026. The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds in the Ponderosa Building. According to the department, the free clinic is available for children 6 months and older, teens, and adults who are not up to date on their vaccinations, though supply is limited.
In addition to human immunizations, the department issued guidance for equine health. The Utah County Health Department advised horse owners to ensure annual West Nile Virus vaccinations are completed by late April because the virus is deadly to horses. Officials also recommended removing standing water and mosquito larvae and noted that Mosquito Abatement services are available for free within Utah County.
The focus on vaccinations follows previous reports from the department regarding new measles cases in Utah County in late 2025. Sego Lily Elementary also previously shared reminders that annual flu shots are a vital way to protect students and keep classrooms healthy.
The health department is also seeking community involvement in substance abuse prevention. On March 25, 2026, the agency announced it is seeking project proposals to address the use of e-cigarettes, marijuana, and other drugs among youth.
Other recent departmental updates included a scheduled Board of Health meeting in late January and notifications regarding holiday closures for the department.
