A Utah veteran facing significant personal challenges is receiving assistance from a social media influencer dedicated to supporting veterans across America. Samuel Weidenhofer, who has over 15 million followers on TikTok and Instagram, recently met the 88-year-old veteran while working on a campaign to assist veterans and their families in all 50 states.
The veteran is currently caring for his wife as she battles dementia. According to a GoFundMe page created by Weidenhofer and the veteran's granddaughter, Destiny Moosman, the family suffered the loss of the veteran's son in November. The son had lived across the street and provided assistance with caregiving, which allowed the couple to remain in their home.
In addition to caring for his wife while grieving his son, the veteran is dealing with transportation difficulties, specifically an unaffordable repair needed for his vehicle's transmission. Moosman noted that despite these challenges, the veteran continues to care for his wife every morning.
Weidenhofer's initiative aims to ensure one veteran or veteran family in every state receives meaningful support as part of a movement to honor those who served. This follows a previous viral campaign by Weidenhofer involving an 88-year-old Michigan veteran, which raised over $1.9 million for Ed Bambas.
