A man in his 20s was wounded in a drive-by shooting near 8400 South State Street late Thursday night, according to a September 18 report by Gephardt Daily.
Sandy police responded to the shooting shortly after 10 p.m., according to Sgt. Michael Olsen.
Investigators believe a vehicle pulled alongside two pedestrians before one or more people inside the vehicle opened fire. One of the pedestrians was struck and sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Olsen said.
Officers searched the surrounding area but had not located the vehicle or any suspects as of Thursday night. Police were also investigating whether a nearby building was struck by gunfire, though additional property damage had not been confirmed.
Olsen stated that investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and had not identified a specific threat to the public. The investigation is continuing to determine whether the shooting was gang-related.
