Box Elder County 4-H provides a range of small animal programs including dog, rabbit, chicken, pigeon, and turkey projects. These initiatives are designed to help youth develop responsibility, animal husbandry skills, and confidence through the care and training of animals.
In the 4-H dog program, participants focus on agility, showmanship, and obedience to foster independence and self-confidence.
The Rabbit Club meets weekly during the summer at the small animal barn located at the Box Elder County Fairgrounds. This family-oriented club is open to youth ages four and up. Meetings for this club began June 4, 2026, and occur every Thursday in the summer, with the exception of July 23rd.
The Poultry and Pigeon Club also holds summer meetings at the Small Animal Barn at the Fairgrounds. These meetings begin on June 4, 2026, and take place every Thursday during the summer, excluding July 23rd.
The Paws for Applause dog club offers opportunities in agility, showmanship, and obedience trials. To participate in the Box Elder County Dog Show, youth must join the club by June 4th. Before attending club meetings with dogs, members must be enrolled in 4-H and provide required vaccination records.
Additionally, the Utah State Junior Turkey Show serves as a program to assist youth in developing leadership, trust, and responsibility.
Through 4-H and FFA organizations, youth can develop lifelong skills such as setting goals, running meetings, expressing opinions before groups, and managing livestock projects.
