September is designated as City Library Card signup month by the Salt Lake City Public Library. Throughout the month, individuals can receive discounts at various local businesses by showing a library card.
The library offers free cards to residents of Salt Lake County. To obtain a card, individuals must provide a photo ID or a government-issued non-photo ID, along with proof of address via a government-issued ID or other official documents listing a current address. Cards can be obtained online or in person at the Main Library downtown or at any of the eight neighborhood branches.
Discounts are available across several categories, including food and drink, shopping, services and classes, attractions, and transportation. For example, businesses such as Avenues Bakery on Fourth, Big Dipper Sandwiches, and Cafe 140B offer 10% discounts. Other food and drink locations include Crema Coffee and Soda, Culture Coffee, Don Daniel's Mexican Grill & Cantina, Hallowed Grounds Café and Gifts, Hidden Oak Gourmet Creamery, Hugo Coffee, JJ Coffee Co., Lucky Ones Coffee, Picnic Cafe, Red Moose Cafe, and Santo Taco.
Shopping and service discounts include City of Industry, Hip & Humble, The Library Store, Lovebound Library, The Novel Nomad, Salt & Honey Market, Sanctuary of the Forgotten, Saturday Cycles, and Under the Umbrella Bookstore.
