The Diocese of Salt Lake City welcomed two new seminarians from Estipac, Jalisco, Mexico, according to a notice from the diocese. The new seminarians, Juan Pablo Arenas Reynaga and Bruno Salinas Reynaga, previously spent time as seminarians for the Archdiocese of Guadalajara completing part of their theology studies.
Both Juan Pablo Arenas Reynaga and Bruno Salinas Reynaga have family in Utah and were invited to the diocese by a diocesan priest. They began intensive English studies at the University of Utah on Aug. 24. Additionally, they have been assigned to weekend ministry at St. Olaf Parish in Bountiful and St. John the Baptist Parish in Draper.
The diocese’s four other seminarians returned to their studies at Mount Angel Seminary in Mt. Angel, Oregon, on Aug. 24 following summer break. Rigo Téllez is beginning his first year of seminary after completing a pastoral year at St. Ann Parish. Landon Quintana and Jose Santana are beginning philosophy studies, while Michael Weight is beginning theology studies.
The diocese requested prayers for the seminarians.
