Skyridge boys golf achieved a second-place finish at the 6A state tournament held Oct. 12-13 at Talons Cove Golf Club in Saratoga Springs. The Falcons finished as runners-up with a two-day total of 569 (-7), seven strokes behind champion Lehi.
Freshman Jraice Finau, son of PGA Tour player Tony Finau, led the Skyridge team with a fifth-place individual finish of 138 (-6), according to the Deseret News. Junior Klive Fuhriman tied for 10th place with a score of 142 (-3).
Coach Tenille Slack stated that Finau and Fuhriman served as solid anchors for the team throughout the season. Slack noted the team remained steady, confident, and focused during the two-day tournament.
Skyridge's performance included a first-round score of 283 (-5), which placed them in second behind Lehi's 276. The team held off a second-round charge from Lone Peak to finish with a 286. Other contributing scores included senior Tanner Porter, who tied for 15th at 144 (E), and junior Landon Makin, who tied for 20th at 145 (+1). Junior Hayes Mauss and sophomore Beckham Bell also competed for the state team.
The silver medal finish follows a season where Skyridge posted a 296 at a region meet on Sept. 30 at Riverbend Golf Course in Riverton. Looking toward the 2027 season, Skyridge will return Finau, Fuhriman, Makin, Mauss, and Bell, with Tanner Porter being the only senior from the tournament roster.
