artsFUSION is working to increase the quality and quantity of arts education experiences for children in the SUU region. Since 2006, the organization has focused on providing these experiences in both classroom and community settings.
Several upcoming events are scheduled for the region. Wonder Wednesday will take place on Wednesday, October 7, at 4:00 pm at the Southern Utah Museum of Art (MA). A Create Playdate is scheduled for Friday, October 9, at 10:00 am at the Southern Utah Museum of Art (MA). Additionally, Sing, Speak & Read: Building Literacy Through Music will be held on Wednesday, October 21, at 6:00 pm at the Emma Eccles Jones Education Building (ED), 105.
Further programming includes a second Create Playdate on Friday, October 23, at 10:00 am at the Southern Utah Museum of Art (MA). The Wonder Wednesday series continues with Paper Marigolds on Wednesday, November 4, at 4:00 pm at the Southern Utah Museum of Art (MA). Another Create Playdate, titled Off We Go to Mexico, is scheduled for Friday, November 6, at 10:00 am at the Southern Utah Museum of Art (MA).
The mission of artsFUSION involves four key areas of focus to support arts learning in Southern Utah. This includes the BTS Partnership, which mentors arts teachers in Beaver, Garfield, Iron, Millard, Piute, Sevier, and Wayne counties. The organization also provides professional development through workshops and on-site services for education staff. Furthermore, artsFUSION facilitates community projects for local and preservice teachers and delivers intensive practicum-style arts integration courses to all elementary education majors at Southern Utah University.
