Construction has begun at the Henry Mountains Field Station for a new warehouse and parking lot. According to a notice from the Bureau of Land Management, the project is expected to last for at least nine months.
A fence is currently blocking access to the Wolverton Mill, public restrooms, and water taps. During the construction period, several amenities will be unavailable, including the parking lot, trailer turnaround, Wolverton Mill access, public restrooms, and water taps. The available parking lot is limited to approximately five vehicles.
The Henry Mountains are located in southeast Utah, with Mt. Ellen reaching nearly 12,000 feet. The area is a significant site for geologic study and contains paleontological resources, such as the Hanksville-Burpee Dinosaur Quarry, which has revealed remains from at least 15 different dinosaurs.
