A fatal crash occurred on SR-16 in Box Elder County on June 28, 2026. The incident involved a southbound GMC Sierra and a northbound Ford F-150 near milepost 23.
At approximately 1632 hours, a 2000 GMC Sierra was traveling southbound on SR-16 when it drifted left of center and into the northbound lane. The vehicle then struck a 2020 Ford F-150 that was traveling in the northbound lane.
The front passenger of the GMC Sierra sustained serious injuries during the collision and was transported to a hospital via medical helicopter. The passenger was eight months pregnant, and officials later determined the baby was deceased.
Authorities suspect the driver of the GMC Sierra fell asleep, which caused the vehicle to drift out of its lane.
