The 2026 NBA Draft class is entering its regular-season debut, with 12 of the top 14 lottery picks scheduled to play on Wednesday, according to an October 20 report by NBA.com. While Aday Mara of the Oklahoma City Thunder made his debut Tuesday against San Antonio, other top prospects face various circumstances as they begin their professional careers.
The top of the draft class features significant storylines for Wednesday's games. No. 2 pick Darryn Peterson of the Utah Jazz is scheduled to debut against the Memphis Grizzlies, where he will face No. 3 pick Cameron Boozer. Boozer, who was voted the Rookie of the Year in the 2026-27 NBA GM Survey, enters the league with an all-around skill set, having recorded at least 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists in four preseason games.
Other high picks scheduled for Wednesday include No. 4 pick Caleb Wilson of the Chicago Bulls at Toronto, No. 5 pick Keaton Wagler of the LA Clippers against Sacramento, and No. 6 pick Mikel Brown Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets against Charlotte. No. 7 pick Darius Acuff Jr. of the Sacramento Kings is scheduled to play at the LA Clippers, while No. 8 pick Kingston Flemings of the Atlanta Hawks will face Orlando. No. 9 pick Morez Johnson Jr. of the Dallas Mavericks is scheduled to play at Houston, and No. 10 pick Brayden Burries of the Milwaukee Bucks will visit Washington.
Additional debuts scheduled for Wednesday include No. 11 pick Yaxel Lendeborg of the Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles, No. 13 pick Nate Ament of the Milwaukee Bucks at Washington, and No. 14 pick Hannes Steinbach of the Charlotte Hornets against Brooklyn.
The start of the season comes with some injury concerns for the top talent. No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa of the Washington Wizards was ruled out for the team's season opener against Milwaukee due to a sprained left ankle and is currently listed as day-to-day. Similarly, No. 13 pick Nate Ament of the Milwaukee Bucks, who suffered a preseason ankle sprain, is listed as probable to play in Wednesday's game.
In the preseason, Aday Mara recorded seven points, two rebounds, one assist, and one block in nearly 12 minutes during the Thunder's 116-104 victory over San Antonio. During the contest, Mara recorded a block on Victor Wembanyama that led to an alley-oop dunk on the next possession.
The Kia Rookie Ladder will continue to track the performance of these first-year players throughout the season.
