A brush fire at East Mountain Wilderness Park in Kaysville prompted evacuations on a Friday as firefighters worked to protect nearby homes.
The Kaysville Fire Department and mutual-aid agencies responded to the fire located at 1625 E. 650 North.
Officials stated that multiple homes were threatened by the fire, leading the Kaysville Police Department to begin evacuating residents in the area.
Authorities urged residents in the immediate vicinity to comply with evacuation orders and requested that the public avoid the area to allow emergency crews to safely fight the fire and evacuate homes.
The brush fire was brought under control by 9:40 p.m. that Friday night, which allowed evacuated residents to return to their homes.
Fire crews from Kaysville, Layton, Farmington, and Hill Air Force Base responded to the incident, with assistance from Bureau of Land Management resources. Crews remained on the scene to extinguish hot spots.
