The Eureka City Council held a meeting on July 27, 2026, to address several municipal items including transportation planning and emergency services. Mayor Robert Jenkins presided over the session, which included discussions on committee resignations and upcoming community events.
During the meeting, the council voted to approve the adoption of the Eureka Transportation Plan following a motion by Council Member Nedreberg and a second by Council Member Atherley. Additionally, the council voted to accept Juab County EMS as the city's EMS service after a motion by Council Member Clements and a second by Council Member Davis.
Several items were tabled for future discussion, including 120 Water, the WUI Ordinance and Map, the Eureka Recreation Committee applications and bylaws, and a request from Kathy Campbell regarding a zone change from Commercial to Mixed Use. Mayor Jenkins noted that the Mayor will attempt to gather costs for the Rural Water Assn. Fall Conference for a future meeting.
In the citizen comments portion, Jessica Nielsen read a resignation letter on behalf of herself and JaNeel Nielsen from the Recreation Committee. The council expressed gratitude for their service. Chelsea Bradley commented regarding the need for respect during future Recreation Meetings.
Regarding the Recreation Committee, the council approved the application of Anrita Cornish to fill a vacant position. The committee was scheduled to meet at City Hall at 6:00 pm the following day to vote on leadership roles.
Other reports included updates on the Vulcan Well project and the status of sewer permit testing. Mayor Jenkins announced that a town hall meeting will be held at the end of the month and invited the public to attend.
