Weber State women's soccer is preparing for a heavy Big Sky Conference schedule following recent conference matchups, according to an October 7 report. The Wildcats are focused on maintaining consistency throughout full matches as they face top conference opponents.
Head coach Kyle Christensen, a Layton native, noted that the team has struggled to maintain high performance levels for a full 90 minutes. Christensen observed that while the team earned a 1-1 tie against Idaho and a 3-2 win at Eastern Washington, they have often failed to sustain their intensity for the entire match duration. He stated that the team must provide a full 90-minute effort to achieve results against upcoming opponents like Utah Tech.
The Wildcats' upcoming schedule includes a matchup against Utah Tech, which is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff this Thursday at Wildcat Soccer Field. Following that, Southern Utah is scheduled to play the Wildcats at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The current season follows a standout year for the program, which recorded 12 wins and narrowly missed a Big Sky Conference playoff championship and NCAA Tournament berth approximately 11 months ago. Senior forward Lily Blum, who leads the team with four goals and two assists in 12 games, said the team's motto is GASS Up, representing grit, accountability, sacrifice, and sisterhood. The program enters this season with high expectations, having received a No. 1 vote from other Big Sky coaches.
The Wildcats' current conference stretch features three of the top four teams in the Big Sky. The program is working to transfer improved teammate relationships on the field to ensure seamless play during these critical conference matches.
