Bose Corporation announced on October 21, 2026, that it has acquired the lifestyle audio brand Skullcandy. The acquisition aims to expand Bose's consumer audio portfolio and reach new audiences through Skullcandy's design and community connections.
The acquisition follows a multi-year partnership that previously integrated Sound by Bose technology into Skullcandy earbuds and headphones. Under the new arrangement, Skullcandy will remain a separate brand within Bose's Premium Consumer Audio business. Bose intends to invest in the continued growth of Skullcandy by providing access to technology, resources, global distribution, and commercial relationships.
Bose CEO Lila Snyder stated that the company is expanding its reach through a growing portfolio of brands and technology partnerships. She noted that as a privately held company, Bose has the freedom to make bold, long-term investments, citing Skullcandy as an example of such an opportunity. Skullcandy CEO Brian Garofalow said the move provides an opportunity to bring more audio expertise and technology to their products.
Skullcandy was founded in 2003 on a chairlift in Park City, Utah. The brand is known for its roots in boardsports and connections across music, gaming, and fitness. Bose acquired the brand from a fund managed by Mill Road Capital Management LLC, a private investment firm based in Connecticut. Jones Day served as legal counsel for Bose during the transaction, though the financial terms of the deal remain confidential.
Skullcandy will continue to be based in Park City, Utah. Bose's portfolio of brands also includes McIntosh, Sonus faber, and the Bose brand itself.
