Bose Corporation announced on October 21, 2026, that it has acquired the lifestyle audio brand Skullcandy. The acquisition follows a multi-year partnership between the two companies that previously integrated Sound by Bose technology into Skullcandy products.
The acquisition, which involves purchasing Skullcandy from a fund managed by Connecticut-based private investment firm Mill Road Capital Management LLC, will see Skullcandy remain a separate brand within Bose’s Premium Consumer Audio business. Bose plans to invest in the continued growth of Skullcandy by providing access to technology, resources, global distribution, and commercial relationships while allowing the brand to maintain its identity. Skullcandy will continue to be based in Park City, Utah.
Bose Chief Executive Officer Lila Snyder stated that the company is expanding how it reaches people through a growing portfolio of brands and technology partnerships. She noted that as a privately held company, Bose has the freedom to make long-term investments in brands like Skullcandy. Skullcandy Chief Executive Officer Brian Garofalow said the move provides an opportunity to bring more of Bose's audio expertise and technology to their products. He noted that Skullcandy was founded on a chairlift in Park City, Utah, over 20 years ago.
Skullcandy is a lifestyle audio brand with deep roots in boardsports culture and connections across music, gaming, and fitness. Bose Corporation, which has been in business for more than 60 years, manages a portfolio that includes McIntosh, Sonus faber, and Skullcandy. Jones Day served as legal counsel for Bose during the transaction, though the financial terms of the deal remain confidential.
Through this acquisition, Bose intends to use Skullcandy's design and consumer understanding to connect with audiences where the company has had less presence. The partnership combines Bose's global reach and audio research with Skullcandy's established brand and community connections.
