Salt Lake County Animal Services is seeking permanent homes for several animals, including Cosmo, a 5-year-old mixed breed who entered the shelter on Aug. 4, 2026. The animal services facility is currently hosting various long-term residents, such as Alexia, a 10-year-old German Shepherd who has been in the shelter system since Aug. 15, 2023.
New Arrival Cosmo Seeks Home
Cosmo, a black and white Domestic Short Hair mixed breed, has been at the Salt Lake County Animal Services facility in Kennel Colony 2 since Aug. 4, 2026. Staff at the shelter describe the 5-year-old neutered male as a sweet animal looking for a secure and loving environment.
According to Salt Lake County Animal Services, Cosmo qualifies for both the Pets for Patriots Program and the Senior to Senior Program. Potential adopters can contact the facility via email at Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with any questions regarding his adoption.
Rescued Cat Needs Quiet Environment
The shelter is also working to find a home for Biggie Biscuits, a brown tabby Domestic Short Hair mixed breed who arrived at the facility on July 9, 2026. Biggie Biscuits is one of seven cats that were rescued from a motel room.
Shelter staff describe the neutered male as a sensitive boy who may require a quiet and patient environment to adjust to his new surroundings. He is currently located in Kennel CAT11. Like Cosmo, Biggie Biscuits is available for adoption on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Long-Term Resident Alvey
Among the long-term residents is Alvey, a 10-year-old cream and white Domestic Long Hair mixed breed. Alvey has been in the shelter since July 7, 2026. The neutered male is currently housed in Kennel CAT09.
Staff describe Alvey as a gentle soul who requires a peaceful place to relax and lounge. Alvey also qualifies for the Pets for Patriots Program and the Senior to Senior Program. The facility notes that adoptions are conducted Tuesday through Saturday, with adoptions ending at 5:00 PM.
Long-Term Resident Alexia
Alexia, a 10-year-old German Shepherd Dog mixed breed, has been in the shelter system since Aug. 15, 2023. Weighing 82 pounds, the brown and black female is currently residing in a foster home rather than a kennel.
Staff describe Alexia as an active dog who enjoys fetch, squeaky toys, long walks, belly rubs, and water. She is described as smart, food motivated, and capable of following various commands. Alexia is also noted to ride well in vehicles, walk on a leash, and settle well at home. She qualifies for both the Pets for Patriots and Senior to Senior programs.

Salt Lake County Animal Services is located at 511 West 3900 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84123. The facility is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, though adoptions conclude at 5:00 PM.
