The Orem City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on September 8, 2026, to consider various amendments to the Orem City Code, according to a September 2 statement. The meeting is expected to begin at approximately 6:00 p.m. at the City of Orem Council Chambers, located at 56 North State Street.
The proposed amendments address several regulatory areas. Proposed changes to the code include allowing one unregistered or inoperable vehicle to be parked in a driveway and modifying parking requirements in residential zones. Additionally, amendments seek to clarify that RVs and camper trailers cannot be used for human habitation and clarify the permitted use of moving containers. Other considerations include requiring vehicle sales and repair businesses to submit site plans for vehicle parking and prohibiting automobile-related businesses from using public streets for storage or parking.
Additional code changes involve defining nuisances, allowing the city to remove vegetation obstructing traffic control devices, and providing an appeal process for property owners. The amendments also include a deadline for snow removal, prohibiting the use of city parking lots after curfew, and establishing progressively higher fines for nuisances that are not timely abated. Further updates address the storage of trailers, unattached campers, and boats on public streets, as well as requiring vehicles to be moved at least 200 feet every 72 hours.
