The current weather pattern includes showers and storms developing during the day with some storms lingering into the overnight hours. The highest chance of precipitation is expected in the mountains, while lower terrain will see significantly lower precipitation chances, with minimum relative humidity remaining low in the upper teens to low 20s.
As low pressure grazes the area to the north, storms are expected to continue through early next week alongside increasing southwesterly winds. Thunderstorms may bring strong, gusty, and erratic winds.
In the Salt Lake Desert, temperatures are expected to reach between 92 and 100 degrees near 5000 feet today. Scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible south of I-80 after 1200.
In the Wasatch Mountains, temperatures near 5000 feet may range from 93 to 100 degrees today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected north and south of I-80 after 1200.
The Uinta Mountains and Western Ashley National Forest are also forecasting scattered showers and thunderstorms following 1200 today. In the Western Uintah Basin, temperatures near 6000 feet are expected to be between 90 and 96 degrees, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible after 1200.
Looking ahead to the 8-14 day outlook from August 28 to September 3, temperatures are expected to be above normal and precipitation is expected to be near normal.
