The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City issued a tornado warning for east central Tooele County in northern Utah on August 13, according to a report published that day.
The warning, which was issued at 5:32 PM MDT, was effective until 6:00 PM MDT.
At 5:32 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Skull Valley, approximately 9 miles north of Dugway English Village. The storm was moving northeast at 50 MPH.
Radar indicated rotation for the storm, which presented hazards including a tornado and hail up to two inches in diameter. The storm was expected to be near Skull Valley around 5:35 PM MDT and the Tooele Army Depot around 5:45 PM MDT. Rush Valley was also listed as an impacted location.
The National Weather Service warned that flying debris would be dangerous to those without shelter. Potential impacts included damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles, as well as damage to or destruction of mobile homes and likely tree damage.
