The Provo City School District Board of Education received updates on construction projects at Timpview High School and demolition efforts at Dixon Middle School during a study session board meeting held on August 11, 2026. The updates provided details on infrastructure progress, site demolition, and facility milestones.
At Timpview High School, work on the main building is focused on foundational infrastructure. While underground mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are complete, concrete footings are ongoing and crews have begun preparing for the concrete slab. Foundation wall construction was scheduled to begin the week following the August 11 update.
Construction continues on the south retaining wall along the campus edge. Masonry work has begun, and crews are applying foundation waterproofing. Although underground storm drain installation is complete, the final retaining wall pour was scheduled for the week of the August 11 update. A sidewalk adjacent to the wall has reopened, and permanent light poles are expected to be installed to supplement temporary lighting.
Fire line installation at Timpview is complete, including the installation of a new fire hydrant. The new line connects to the existing South Gym fire riser room, with one line adding water pressure to the existing school and a second providing fire protection for the bleachers and surrounding area. Fire department connections were scheduled for completion during the week of the August 11 update.
Roof work above the Timpview commons has reached milestones including the completion of structural roof upgrades, the new roof membrane, and the installation of new roof drains. Inside the commons, a temporary wall separating students from construction areas is complete, and ceiling tile and grid repairs are finished. Work continues on tile installation at the learning stair and surrounding flooring repairs. A temporary accessible ramp and pedestrian stair handrail were installed on August 11 to support circulation.
At Dixon Middle School, demolition has advanced substantially. Aerial images from the August 11 presentation showed large sections of the building removed, leaving exposed concrete slabs, foundations, and structural debris. Crews are using excavators to break down remaining sections and move materials such as concrete, brick, metal, and wood. Trucks and trailers are being utilized for debris removal and site clearing.
