Canyon Crest Elementary School is preparing to welcome students back following Fall Break. According to an announcement from Principal Mark Burge, the school has scheduled several activities and events through November.
The school is hosting a parent workshop on Thursday, October 29, at 5:00 PM in the school library with social worker Ms. Brigitte Kaninda. Following this, a Halloween Parade and class parties are scheduled for Friday, October 30.
During the Halloween festivities, students will eat lunch one hour earlier than usual. The parade is scheduled to begin at 12:05 PM, followed by classroom Halloween parties at 12:45 PM. Families may view the parade from in front of the school or along the playground. The school noted that if rain occurs, plans will be adjusted. Additionally, a fire drill and evacuation will be conducted during the event.
Regarding food for Halloween celebrations, the school stated that all treats and food items brought to school must be store-bought. While food provided by parents does not need to follow new food additive restrictions, restrictions do apply to food provided by school staff.
In other upcoming school business, Picture Retake Day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4. A PTA Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 10, at 10:30 AM in Room 12. On Friday, November 13, the school will hold a Veterans Day and PTA Reflections Assembly at 9:30 AM.
Additional November events include a School Community Council Meeting on Wednesday, November 18, at 3:45 PM in the school conference room. The ROAR Assembly, celebrating students who demonstrate respect, ownership, attitude, and responsibility, is scheduled for Friday, November 20.
School will not be in session from November 25 through November 27 during Thanksgiving Break.
The school's Lost and Found has been collecting items such as hoodies, jackets, coats, and water bottles due to the colder weather. Principal Burge encouraged parents to have students check the area for missing items.
The school noted that Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 1, at which time clocks should be turned back one hour.
