The Utah State Board of Education announced that it will reimburse local education agencies for $53 per Advanced Placement exam taken by fee-reduced students during the May 2026 testing period.
According to information from College Board, Utah's Early College programs statute requires local communities to pay for AP exam fees for students experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage. To receive these funds, Local Education Agencies must complete the Early College application process and maintain a district or charter-wide mechanism to track expenditures for qualifying students.
The Community Foundation of Utah will also provide financial support specifically for AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A exams. The foundation will pay the College Board $53 per exam for fee-reduced students in Utah public schools, a move that reduces the final exam fee for those qualifying students to $0.
For students who do not qualify for fee reductions, the state will not provide additional funding. These standard-fee students will pay $99 per exam. While schools may choose to keep or forgo a $9 rebate from standard-fee students, they are expected to forgo that rebate for students receiving fee reductions.
AP coordinators must indicate the fee reduction status for eligible students in AP Registration and Ordering by April 30, 2026. All payments to the College Board must be postmarked by June 15, 2026.
