Southern Utah University athletics launched the Jr. T-Birds partnership in Cedar City earlier this month. The program was established through a collaboration with Cedar City Sports and Recreation and the Cedar City-based State Bank of Southern Utah.
The partnership began during the autumn season. Under this arrangement, children who register for Cedar City Sports and Recreation youth programs will be part of the initiative.
In other regional sports news, BYU men's basketball announced its non-conference schedule for the 2026/27 season, which includes an exhibition game against Nebraska on October 16 and a regular season matchup against Ohio State in Salt Lake City on November 2. Additionally, BYU signed Lithuanian guard Dovydas Buika earlier this July.
Other local updates included the announcement of the University of Utah athletics 2026 Hall of Fame Class, with an induction dinner scheduled for September 18 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Furthermore, former BYU player and Utah Jazz CEO Danny Ainge was named for induction into the Naismith Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
