Following recent City Council meetings and a February 12 town hall, Kaysville officials are adjusting the boundaries of the proposed City Center Community Reinvestment Area (CRA). Residents expressed a desire to exclude residential properties, specifically those located west of I-15 and on the south side of 200 N, from the plan.
Boundary adjustments following resident feedback
The initial proposal included several residential properties within corridors along Main Street and 200 N. Following the February 20 meeting, the City Council directed staff to remove residential properties that did not wish to be included. The reworked proposal must now be submitted to Davis County for approval and requires consent from all taxing entities, including Kaysville City, Davis School District, and Davis County.
Purpose and funding of the CRA
The CRA is designed to allow taxing entities to allocate a portion of property tax revenue growth within the boundaries for 15 years. These funds are intended for infrastructure improvements and beautification projects in Kaysville's commercial core, particularly along Main Street. The initiative aims to strengthen the city's sales tax base without altering zoning or increasing property tax rates.
Local infrastructure and traffic updates
In other infrastructure updates, construction on the 200 North Reconstruction and Utilities Project has altered traffic patterns from 300 East to Main Street. All traffic has been shifted to the north side of 200 North to allow for water line installation. Additionally, work is beginning at the intersection of Main Street and Mutton Hollow Road for road widening and the installation of a new traffic light, with completion expected by fall 2025.
Upcoming community maintenance and waste changes
Residents are also advised of several upcoming community changes. The Kaysville Cemetery cleanup schedule will shift to the first consecutive Monday and Tuesday of each month starting in April. Furthermore, effective April 1, green waste containers may only be used for yard debris rather than regular household trash.
