Three-star athlete Taylan Patterson committed to the University of Utah football program following an official visit to campus, marking the 11th commitment for the Utes' 2027 recruiting class.
Details of the commitment
The Chandler, Arizona, native from Basha High School decided to join the program after wrapping up his official visit on June 12, 2026, according to 2CA7Sports. Patterson, a defensive back who will play cornerback for Utah, cited the university's culture and structure as primary motivators for his decision.
Patterson's reasons for choosing Utah
"The culture and structure Utah has in place is unlike anything else I experienced on my other visits," Patterson told 247Sports. "They all care and want what's best for you as a person and a player."
Player rankings and recruiting competition
The 6-foot, 175-pound athlete is ranked as the 102nd-ranked athlete in the country and the 27th-ranked player in Arizona for the class of 2027. To secure Patterson's commitment, Utah coaches beat out offers from programs including San Diego State, Arizona, and Illinois State.
Upcoming Utah football schedule
The University of Utah football team is scheduled to play Idaho at Rice-Eccles Stadium on September 3, 2026.
