A trash cleanup event was scheduled for September 19, 2026, at the Swaner Preserve as part of Park City's community-wide day of service. According to a notice from the Swaner EcoCenter, volunteers were intended to pick up trash along the boundaries of the preserve to prevent garbage from harming wildlife or damaging wetland functions.
The event was organized to include multiple shifts between 9 a.m. and noon to stagger participants. Volunteers were to be provided with gloves, bags, and trash grabbers, with various locations around the preserve accessible by foot or vehicle. Collected trash was to be brought back to the EcoCenter or left at designated dropoff points.
Because September is Utah's Statewide Watershed Cleanup Month, the weight of the collected trash was to be submitted to Pack it Out Utah 2026. Participants were advised to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather, as work involved walking over uneven terrain and bending over for extended periods.
The Swaner EcoCenter is located at 1258 Center Drive, Park City, UT 84098. The event was subject to cancellation in the event of severe weather.
