A search is underway for three teenagers after a security guard was stabbed during a robbery at Harmons in Salt Lake City. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon at the Harmons located on 1st South State Street.
Lt. Cody Lougy of the Salt Lake City Police Department said officers received reports around 3 p.m. on Friday that teenagers had stolen from the deli. Upon arrival, police discovered a security guard had been stabbed in the stomach.
According to Lougy, the stabbing took place after the guard stopped the teenagers for stealing. The security guard was transported to an area hospital and is reported to be in serious but stable condition. His identity has not been released.
The three suspects, described as two Hispanic and one African American, fled eastbound and remain at large. Police are currently using drones in an effort to locate them.
Lougy stated that the incident appears to be isolated and does not believe there is an outstanding threat to the public. No other injuries were reported.
