Salt Lake City Police Homicide Detectives are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a man. Two people connected to the shooting have been taken into custody in Wyoming.
The investigation began at 6:37 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, after SLC911 received a report of a shooting near 600 South and 300 West.
Officers determined the shooting took place inside a hotel room located at 625 South 300 West. Upon entering the room, officers discovered a man dead.
During the early stages of the investigation, detectives identified a suspect vehicle and learned it was potentially in western Wyoming. Deputies with the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office located and stopped the vehicle, taking two people in the car into custody.
Homicide detectives plan to travel to Wyoming to continue the investigation and start the extradition process.
