The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City issued a flood warning for areas in central Utah due to expected flooding from excessive rainfall. The warning applied to south central Carbon County, northwestern Emery County, and southeastern Sanpete County.
According to emergency management, heavy rainfall caused high flows on Cottonwood Creek, with water approaching the bridge on Main Street in Orangeville. Flooding was reported as already occurring. Radar estimates indicated up to 1 inch of rain had fallen, with the heaviest rainfall occurring updrainage from Castle Dale and Huntington.
Locations expected to experience flooding included Huntington, Wellington, Sunnyside, Clawson, Castle Dale, Ferron, Orangeville, East Carbon, Cleveland, and Elmo.
