The Cedar City Regional Airport Board held a regular meeting on July 9, 2026, to address various operational updates and upcoming infrastructure projects, according to a report published August 11.
During the meeting, the board discussed the impact of fire season on airport operations, noting that a temporary control tower has been implemented to assist with coordination during the season.
The board reviewed a budget report showing the airport generated $1,206,718 in revenue, exceeding the $1,009,000 budget. This total includes an additional $112,000 from land fees due to tanker activity and $123,000 in interest earnings from fuel flowage. The airport also reported $42,000 from the gravel pit.
Infrastructure projects were a primary focus. Runway 2/2/0 is scheduled for seal coating, crack sealing, and re-marking during the first week of August, with work occurring at night to minimize disruption. Additionally, core samples have been taken for the Taxiway Alpha project, which is in the design phase for a 2029 schedule. A project to reconstruct a section of the East Apron is scheduled for 2027.
Regarding airline services, SkyWest indicated a potential new run from Salt Lake. The board is also working on a leakage study to provide new data to airlines. While efforts to meet with Allegiant have been unsuccessful for years, the board met with American, Allegiant, and United airlines at a recent conference.
Operational updates included news that SkyWest staff are undergoing de-icing training. June passenger numbers were slightly down but remain on track to exceed 10,000 for the year. Non-revenue passengers, primarily SkyWest and Delta employees, consistently represent approximately 35% of travelers.
In terms of staffing, Brandon has left Airport Operations for a pilot position in Moab, and Bryant Foster has joined the team. The TSA is currently short-handed with 10 employees and several unfilled positions.
The meeting addressed several administrative and maintenance items, including the purchase of a Keurig machine for the terminal and the acquisition of a dump trailer for weed control. The board also approved a lease transfer for a Utah LLC with recommended corrections.
