From summer reading challenges in Saratoga Springs and Highland to fraud prevention workshops in Vernal, several Utah communities are launching seasonal programs and educational initiatives this June.
Saratoga Springs Summer Reading Activities
The Saratoga Springs Public Library has launched its 2026 Summer Reading Challenge, featuring weekly activities such as family story times and a scavenger hunt. The library is also hosting its fifth annual rubber duck-orating contest in June, with registration for decorating ducks open from June 2 until June 13.
Highland Elementary Literacy Challenge
Highland Elementary is also encouraging summer literacy through a reading challenge where students can share photos of their favorite books to be featured on the school marquee. Participants will receive certificates and prizes during back-to-school night.
Duchesne County Librarian Award Recognition
In Duchesne County, Amy Crockett, an Associate Librarian for the Duchesne County Library System, received the Outreach Award at the 2026 Utah Library Association conference. Crockett was recognized for her work managing outreach programs and the weekly homeschool hour.
Vernal Fraud Prevention Presentation
The Vernal Police Department is inviting the public to an FBI fraud presentation on June 15 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vernal City Conference Room. The presentation aims to educate the community, particularly older adults, on detecting increasingly sophisticated scams and reporting cyber attacks.
Skyridge High and Highland Awards
Earlier this spring, Skyridge High School held applications for seniors to speak at the May 21 graduation ceremony. Additionally, Highland Elementary recently recognized Mrs. Lane as the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year.
