Real Salt Lake saw its Leagues Cup run come to an end following a 3-0 loss to Club León on August 25, 2026, in a match held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. According to an August 26 report, the neutral-site game in suburban Denver was attended by 7,150 fans.
The loss to the Liga MX side snapped Real Salt Lake's 284-minute shutout streak in the tournament. Additionally, RSL Golden Boot leader Sergi Solans saw his four-game scoring streak end during the match.
Club León's scoring began in the 21st minute when Diber Cambindo converted a pass from Iván Moreno. León added a second goal in the 66th minute via a Sebastián Vegas header following a corner kick from Fernando Beltrán. Cambindo scored his second goal of the match in the 72nd minute on a breakaway after a pass from Beltrán.
Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni utilized a rotated lineup for the match, introducing an entirely new starting XI. The RSL starting lineup included goalkeeper Rafael Cabral, defenders Lukas Engel, Philip Quinton, and DeAndre Yedlin, alongside midfielders Noel Caliskan, Stijn Spierings, Saba Lobjanidze, and Juan Manuel Sanabria, with Morgan Guilavogui and Diego Luna in the attacking roles.
Following the Leagues Cup exit, Real Salt Lake will shift focus back to MLS play. The team is scheduled to return to Denver this Saturday, August 29, for a rivalry match against Colorado at 7:30 p.m. MT.
