Utah Valley University is entering into partnerships with key institutions across the Philippines to advance education, research, and professional development in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Through a collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), UVU will conduct a national assessment regarding AI and technology needs and provide specialized training in AI risk management.
The university's outreach includes projects at the Education Center for AI Research (E-CAIR) and St. Leonard Academy, which aim to equip high school students with practical AI knowledge and certificates of participation.
At the university level, UVU is establishing research partnerships with Far Eastern University and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. These efforts will focus on global ethical and professional perspectives in Information Systems and IT while supporting student-led AI projects. Planned guest speaking engagements for 2026 include a seminar on AI in Education led by Dr. Yi Yin and a presentation on AI Innovation by Dr. Daryl David from FEU Tech.
Research initiatives involving Dr. Yi Yin, Dr. Kelsey Hixson-Bowles, and Dr. Jerevie Canlas will explore the applications of AI for students, faculty, and staff.
Collaborative efforts with De La Salle University - College of Saint Benilde include a panel discussion on applied AI tools and global perspectives. Ongoing projects involve joint student AI research and surveys, with an on-site conference and certificate presentation scheduled for April 6, 2026.
In the non-profit sector, UVU is continuing an AI and cybersecurity initiative with Tahanan Walang Hagdan (TWHI) to protect the organization from fraudulent donation websites and illegal solicitation. This project will also include training sessions in AI, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
The initiative seeks to explore career and internship opportunities by connecting with leading Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies and professional organizations, including ISACA Manila and the Institute of Internal Auditors - Philippines.
