Gunlock State Park is seeking a Park Ranger Aide to join their team. The position offers a salary of $15 per hour and is expected to run from now through October, with the possibility of extending beyond that timeframe.
This seasonal role involves working anywhere from 3 to 8 months. Shifts typically range between 8 and 10 hours, with weekly hours varying from 20 to 40. Staff members are expected to be available for work seven days a week, including holidays, which are noted as the busiest days at the park.
Responsibilities for the Park Ranger Aide include duties at the booth entrance station and general park maintenance. At the entrance station, staff will greet visitors, manage reservations, utilize a point of sale system, and provide information regarding park amenities. This role also includes checking in watercraft to ensure they are clean from quagga mussels, with in-house training provided for this task.
Maintenance duties involve cleaning restrooms, weeding, and maintaining equipment and public areas to help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for guests.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a criminal background check upon hire. The role requires the ability to lift at least 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in groundskeeping, inventory management, daily cleaning, and cash handling. Applicants are expected to maintain a positive demeanor and a commitment to customer service.
