The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced several new temple milestones, including open house dates for the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple and a groundbreaking date for the Santos Brazil Temple.
Mexico Temple Open House Details
The San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple will begin its open house with a media day on Sept. 21, 2026, followed by guest tours on Sept. 22 and 23. Public tours are scheduled to run from Sept. 24 through Oct. 10, excluding Sundays and Oct. 3. Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the temple's dedication on Nov. 1, 2026.
Brazil Temple Groundbreaking Ceremony
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Santos Brazil Temple is set for Aug. 1, 2026. Elder Ronald M. Barcellos of the Brazil Area Presidency will preside over the event. Both the Santos and San Luis Potosí temples were originally announced by President Russell M. Nelson in April 2022.
New Idaho Temple Site Identified
In Idaho, the church identified the location for the Caldwell Idaho Temple, which will be built on a 19.2-acre site at the southwest corner of W. Orchard Ave. and S. Florida Ave. in Canyon County. The plans include an 82,000-square-foot, multistory temple with a meetinghouse and ancillary building. President Nelson announced both the Caldwell and Greenville South Carolina temples in April 2025.
South Carolina Temple Rendering Revealed
The announcement also included the location and exterior rendering for the Greenville South Carolina Temple. The church continues to expand its global presence, with the San Luis Potosí temple being one of 27 temples in operation, under construction, or announced in Mexico.
Global Construction and Madagascar Update
The church's ongoing construction efforts include various international sites, such as the Antananarivo Madagascar Temple, which is currently under construction and has a scheduled dedication for March 15, 2025.
