High school graduation ceremonies are scheduled for Thursday, May 28, at the Huntsman Center. Four schools—Highland, East, West, and Horizonte—will share the venue on that day.
To maintain a joyful and smooth experience, officials have issued several guidelines regarding conduct and items allowed inside the arena.
The district has prohibited the use of confetti and silly string both inside and outside the Huntsman Center. The venue charges schools a fee of $250 per incident if such items are found on the premises.
Attendees are asked to avoid tailgating, tents, or large setups on the Huntsman Center grounds to assist with traffic flow and seating. Additionally, food, candy, and leis made from food products are not permitted on the arena floor during the ceremony, though they may be enjoyed before or after the event.
Security measures include a mandatory screening for all guests. The Huntsman Center rules only allow clear bags inside, with exceptions made for medical or diaper bags. Bag storage is available at the Sorenly Building across from Door 3.
The district noted that cultural regalia, floral leis, and other expressions of cultural identity are welcome and protected by state law. Decorated caps are also permitted as long as they remain school-appropriate and respectful.
For guests with mobility issues, a drop-off area is available at the half-circle lot on South Campus Drive, located directly south of the Huntsman Center. This area is for drop-off only and not for parking. ADA parking is available in designated surrounding lots, and wheelchair seating is provided at the top of each section with companion seating nearby.
Strollers and balloons are not permitted inside the arena bowl but can be stored in the Ticket Office Lobby across from Portal 23.
The graduation schedule for May 28 includes ceremonies for Horizonte Instruction and Training Center at 9:00 AM, East High School at 12:00 PM, West High School at 3:00 PM, Salt Lake Center for Science Education at 5:00 PM, and Highland High School at 6:00 PM.
Other scheduled dates include Innovations Early College High School on May 27 at 6:00 PM at Highland High School, and Sky View Academy on June 8 at 9:00 AM at the Utah State Prison.
