Utah health officials report nearly 50 cases of cyclosporiasis have been identified across the state. The parasite, which is associated with a nationwide outbreak, can cause symptoms including nausea, diarrhea, and fatigue.
Of the 48 cases reported in Utah, nearly all involved individuals who traveled outside the United States. Additionally, 12 cases involved people who had traveled to other states.
Only five patients reported no recent travel history, including one case diagnosed in Salt Lake City in June.
The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food stated that none of the vegetable products recalled in connection with the outbreak were distributed in Utah.
