Salt Lake City set a new all-time high temperature record on Sunday, reaching 109 degrees as of 2:58 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The temperature surpassed the previous record of 107 degrees, which had been reached in 1960, 2002, 2021, and twice in 2022.
The previous all-time high of 107 degrees was most recently recorded on Sept. 7, 2022.
Weather records for Salt Lake City date back to 1874, making the temperature recorded this Sunday the hottest ever documented at the official observation site.
