Sweetgreen, a mission-driven restaurant brand, scheduled its first Utah location to open on Sept. 8 in the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City, according to a September 2 report. Located at 2188 Highland Drive, Suite #103, the 3,160-square-foot restaurant will offer daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The menu features chef-crafted salads, warm bowls, protein-forward plates, and handheld wraps. Notable items include the Crispy Rice Bowl, Miso Glazed Salmon, and the seasonal Fall Harvest menu, which includes an Autumn Harvest Bowl and Roasted Bacon Brussels. To supply the restaurant, sweetgreen is partnering with Nicholas and Company, a family-owned foodservice distributor.
Ryan Slemons, Chief Development Officer at sweetgreen, stated that opening in Sugar House is an exciting step for the brand's growth into new markets. Slemons noted that the community and lifestyle in Sugar House align with how the brand's guests view food and wellness.
The restaurant will feature an original acrylic on canvas work by artist Jason Hackenwerth, installed directly on the wall. The space will also host various community events throughout the week of the opening, including a community run with the Salt Lake City Run Club on Sept. 9 and a plant pop-up with Cactus & Tropicals on Sept. 10.
On the opening day, sweetgreen planned to donate one meal to Waste Less Solutions, a Utah nonprofit focused on food insecurity, for every meal purchased. Customers can place orders in-restaurant, online, or via the sweetgreen app, which includes an SG Rewards loyalty program.
