Alison Dunn is campaigning for a seat on the Davis School Board representing District 3, according to a October 20 report by the Standard-Examiner. Dunn is leveraging her experience in both the classroom and the business sector to highlight her readiness for the role.
Dunn, who holds an MBA and is a small business owner, described herself as a 2026 Utah Business 30 Women to Watch honoree. She stated that her professional background allows her to manage budgets and streamline costs using an entrepreneurial mindset. Her experience includes over a decade of classroom instruction and serving as the Farmington High Community Council President. Additionally, she previously served as a member of the State PTA Legislative Committee.
The candidate identified several key priorities for the district, including a focus on literacy and student mental health. Dunn expressed a desire to bring physical books back into classrooms to foster a joy of reading. To address student isolation, she said she is working with state policy leaders to utilize Utah’s Meta settlement funds for fee-free after-school clubs and sports at no cost to taxpayers. She also proposed establishing a neutral Parent Advocate office to resolve family concerns.
Dunn emphasized the non-partisan nature of the school board, stating that the role focuses on practical needs like teaching children to read and maintaining school safety rather than political agendas. She noted her intention to visit every school in Precinct 3 at least twice a year to meet with staff and parents. Her platform is available for review at dunn4davis.com.
The Standard-Examiner conducted this survey as part of an effort to contact every candidate involved in competitive races across Weber and Davis counties.
