Salt Lake City and the Accessibility and Disability Commission will host an ADA Day celebration on July 27, 2026, to honor the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The event, held in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office, serves to recognize the impact of the civil rights milestone and celebrate community advocates.
The celebration is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Salt Lake City Hall located at 451 S. State Street. Attendees can expect remarks from Mayor Erin Mendenhall and UTA Chief People Officer Anne Green-Barton. The program includes awards such as the ADA Champion Award and the Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Award, alongside demonstrations of adaptive technology.
In addition to community recognitions, the event features accessibility vehicle displays from the Utah Transit Authority (UTA), including paratransit and on-demand services. Families can participate in activities such as face painting and photo opportunities, and meet animals from the Salt Lake City Police Department and UTA K-9 Units. Complimentary refreshments and light snacks will be provided.
Salt Lake City and UTA are working to ensure the event is accessible to all attendees through reasonable accommodations, auxiliary aids, and language access services available upon request.
Transportation options for the event include free parking along 200 East and at the Salt Lake City Main Library parking structure. Attendees are also encouraged to use UTA services such as TRAX, FrontRunner, bus service, paratransit, and UTA On Demand.
