Bonrue Bakery made its Utah County debut on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 1545 N. Canyon Road in Provo, according to a report published Oct. 10. The new location is situated within walking distance of LaVell Edwards Stadium and offers European-style pastries, fresh-baked bread, coffee, and sandwiches.
The grand opening began at 9 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that featured the BYU mascot, Cosmo, along with music and the bakery's founders. The Provo location marks a significant expansion for the business, which was founded by Chris Connors, Li Hsun Sun, and the late Chris Herrin.
Formerly known as Farmstead, the bakery is recognized for its European-inspired pastries and scratch-made breads. The menu includes items such as croissants, a signature kouign-amann, sandwiches, and fresh salads. The bakery is also noted for its ability to serve more than 100 guests within a 10-minute window.
The Provo shop is the first of three planned Utah County locations for Bonrue by the end of 2026. Future locations are slated for Orem and Spanish Fork, while a Central Baking Kitchen is planned for Springville to support the company's growth along the Wasatch Front.
Seasonal menu items for the fall include pumpkin pie, chocolate chip pumpkin bread, and pumpkin cheesecake. Other menu options include the Roasted Veggie Sandwich and a Kale and Ancient Grain Salad.
Chris Connors stated that Provo represents an exciting next chapter for the bakery, providing an opportunity to bring the Southern Utah brand to a new community. The bakery's operating hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
