UTAH’S EMPLOYMENT SUMMARY: September 2026

SALT LAKE CITY (October 16, 2026) — Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for September 2026 increased an estimated 1.4% across the past 12 months, with the state’s economy adding a cumulative 25,200 jobs since September 2025. Utah’s current job count stands at 1,801,100.

September’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is estimated at 3.5%, unchanged from its level in August. Approximately 63,200 Utahns are unemployed. The September national unemployment rate is estimated at 4.2%, up a tenth of a percentage point from its level in August.
