The Duchesne County Trails Committee maintained a mission to pursue diverse and quality motorized and non-motorized recreational trail opportunities and experiences for all skill levels and ages. The committee sought to develop alternative transportation facilities and safe routes to schools by working with the public, municipalities, the county school district, private landowners, public lands agencies, and the Ute Tribe.

Members of the committee represented trail districts throughout the county and served four-year terms.
The 2020 Trails Master Plan
The Duchesne County Trails Master Plan 2020 functioned as an advisory planning document to prioritize identified trail projects within the county. These initiatives were intended to celebrate the community's natural and cultural resources while strengthening the quality of life for residents.
Mapping southern county OHV routes
In southern Duchesne County, a project was completed to map three off-highway vehicle routes on public roads, including areas around Frank's Canyon Loop Trail, Big Wash Loop Trail, and Wrinkments Road Loop Trail. Duchesne County contracted KirMag, Inc. for this mapping effort, utilizing GPS and 360 degree cameras to record the routes.
Project funding and grant details
This mapping project cost $15,455.00, which was comprised of $12,000.00 in OHVR grant funding and a $3,455.00 in-kind match from Duchesne County. The project was funded by the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation Off-highway Vehicle Recreation grant.
New digital trail access features
Users gained the ability to review these trails through downloadable KML or GPS data, timelapse videography, and Google Street View. Additionally, starting in January 2023, requirements were established for anyone operating an off-highway vehicle on public lands in Utah to complete an online education course.
