Elder David A. Bednar offered a dedicatory prayer for the Cleveland Ohio Temple on August 16, 2026. In his prayer, Bednar expressed gratitude for the temple's location in close proximity to sites where foundational revelations were received.
The prayer noted the historical significance of the area, referencing the 1830 revelation that guided the Church to gather in Ohio. Bednar stated that the souls of those present were filled with gratitude to be near the places where the Church was established and where the first house of the Lord was constructed and dedicated.
Bednar dedicated and consecrated the Cleveland Ohio Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including its grounds, ancillary facilities, and all internal features from the foundation to the steeple. The dedication included the baptismal font and the initiatory, endowment, sealing, and celestial rooms.
The prayer included requests for the temple to be protected from natural disasters and acts of evil. Bednar also asked for blessings upon the patrons, leaders, and the rising generation of children and youth, requesting that they be prepared to obtain spiritual gifts and blessings.
The dedication occurred in Independence, Ohio. The Cleveland Ohio Temple stands as a continuation of the blessings first made available in the Kirtland Temple.
