Canyons School District maintained a centralized destination for all high school athletics within the district. The platform served as a resource for student athletes, parents, and coaches by providing essential links, valuable resources, and important policies intended to support athletic journeys.
Safety Protocols and Injury Information
The district committed to promoting a safe, inclusive, and competitive environment through the provision of game schedules and concussion protocols.
Athlete Registration and Required Documentation
For student athletes and parents, the district required the completion of all sections of Register My Athlete prior to sports participation each year. Required documentation included anti-hazing agreements, communications expectations, and the CSD Participation Agreement.
Concussion Resources and Reporting Tools
Information regarding concussion and head injuries was also made available, including parent and athlete fact sheets, as well as post-concussion return to play forms. To address bullying and harassment, the district provided resources for reporting incidents of abuse or discrimination.
Coach Training and Compliance Requirements
Coaches were subject to specific requirements prior to working with students. All Canyons District coaches were required to submit completed UHSAA, USBE, and Canyons School District trainings, including background checks and child abuse prevention training. Within three weeks of hire, coaches also needed to complete training for CPR, first aid, and concussions.
Communication Directives and School Sites
The district implemented specific communication directives, instructing coaches to transition to Parent Square and eliminate use of other third-party applications. The athletics department also provided access to various high school athletic sites, including Alta, Brighton, Corner Canyon, Hillcrest, and Jordan High Schools.
Additional resources available through the platform included the UHSSA Handbook, NFHS information, and the Canyons District Athletic Handbook.
